1. Information Collection and Use

1.1 Personal Information (Authentication)

To use the optional cloud features of EmuCoreA (player profile, cloud settings profiles and leaderboards), you may create an account or sign in using Firebase Authentication (including Google Sign-In). When you create or sign in to an account, we may collect:

• Email address
• Name
• Profile picture (if available)
• Firebase User ID

This information is used solely to identify your account, provide cloud synchronization and manage your account across devices.

1.2 Local Data and Files

EmuCoreA is an emulator. It requires access to your device storage to load game images, firmware files and save data.

• Access: We only access folders and files explicitly selected by you.
• Privacy: Game images and user-generated save files remain on your device unless you explicitly enable cloud features. We do not scan your device for unrelated files or personal data.

1.3 Cloud Data (Firebase)

If you sign in and use cloud features, data such as your player profile, play time statistics, game library statistics, custom achievements, public device profile (only if you make it public) and cloud emulator settings profiles may be securely stored using Firebase services. This data is associated with your account and is used only to synchronize your information across your devices.

1.4 Google Drive Backup (Optional)

EmuCoreA offers an optional, user-initiated backup of saves, settings and related data to your own Google Drive. The App requests the minimal drive.file scope and can only see and manage files that it created. Backups stay in your Google Drive, and you can delete them at any time from the App or from Google Drive itself.

1.5 Usage Data and Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics that help us understand how the App is used and improve it. Analytics collection is limited to technical, bounded values (such as app version, renderer or coarse session duration). Advertising-related storage and personalization are disabled.

1.6 Optional Integrations

• RetroAchievements: if you choose to sign in, your username, password and token are stored locally on your device and requests are sent to retroachievements.org to load achievements and leaderboards.
• Discord Rich Presence: if enabled, the App shares your current game status with Discord through the Discord SDK. You can disable it at any time.
• Game metadata and cover art: to match and display cover artwork, the App may send a game title, file name or disc ID to catalog and cover services (including IGDB-based metadata). No personal information is shared for this purpose.
• Updates and news: the App may contact GitHub-hosted endpoints to check for new versions and to load news content.

1.7 No Advertising

EmuCoreA does not display advertising and does not include advertising SDKs.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the App.
• Authenticate your account.
• Synchronize your cloud data across devices.
• Optimize emulator performance and improve compatibility.
• Analyze App usage in an anonymous, aggregated form.
• Provide customer support.
• Detect, prevent and resolve technical issues.
• Notify you about important updates.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

3.1 Retention

We retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary to provide the services described in this Privacy Policy or to comply with legal obligations.

3.2 Account Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your EmuCoreA account and all associated cloud data at any time. To request account deletion, please contact us at:

After verifying your request, we will permanently delete your account and associated cloud data within 30 days, unless we are required by law to retain certain information.

Deleting your account does not remove game images, save files or other local data stored on your device. Google Drive backups can be deleted by you at any time.

4. Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate and improve the App. These providers may process data only as necessary to perform services on our behalf. Services used include:

• Google Play Services
• Firebase Authentication
• Firebase Firestore
• Google Analytics for Firebase
• Google Drive API (optional backups)
• RetroAchievements (optional)
• Discord (optional Rich Presence)
• IGDB-based catalog services (cover art and metadata)

5. Security

The security of your data is important to us. We use secure cloud infrastructure provided by Firebase and Google Cloud to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or Internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that such information has been collected, we will promptly delete it.

Content Notice
EmuCoreA is an emulator designed to run software provided by the user. We do not distribute games, firmware or copyrighted content. Users are responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to use any game images or firmware files loaded into the App.

7. External Links and Third-Party Content

The App may contain links to third-party websites or display content obtained from third-party services such as catalog providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external services.
